fleas feed on blood..so your dog is not the only food source! fleas have 4 stages in their lifecycle - eggs, larvae, pupae, adults. you need different chemicals to kill different stages. what you put on the dog will kill the adult if it bites ur dog but that won't kill the eggs, larvae and pupae that's already in your house! fles can live in cracks on ur floor, on furnitures, in closets, etc...anywhere they can hide so carpet is not a "must"! the fleas only go on your dog/you to feed so it's not going to live on your dog so being short/long hair has no relevance. if you are vaccumming the floors, make sure you use flea powder so it will go into the vaccum bag to kill whatever is still alive...and get rid of the bag right away or it will become an incubator for fleas! the fleas are probably feeding off of someone else other than your dog...you can use insect repellant on your legs so they won't feed off of you. eventually when they can't get food, they will stop laying eggs and die off. the key is to cut off the "food" source. i had a really bad flea problem a few years ago and that's how i got rid of them. i also paid a few hundred $ to get an exterminator but they didn't do anything other than pocket my money. try "bombing" the house - you can get them at the hardware store but make sure you read the warning about pilot lights...some need it be turned off for safety reasons and some don't. also look for the ones that will kill both adults and eggs. the point of "bombs" is that fumes can go thru cracks and other out-of-reach areas. good luck!

Duckie and ladders hit the nail at the head - its the flea EGGS which might be the trouble. Fleas are an arachnid (like a spider or a filth mite) they usually hatch from eggs. The eggs can hatch as much as a yr after they're laid, so you'll spray your cat with all of the detrimental chemical substances you wish, and they'll simply hold coming again. There is not any flea spray in order to kill the eggs, so rather then burning your condo down the one resolution is to hoover the hell from your condo and burn the vacuum baggage while you're performed. Again and once more. Combine that with a a Vet -encouraged flea therapy like Advantage and in a couple of months you'll have the trouble solved. But permit the cat out of the condo as soon as, and you are again to rectangular one. By the way in which cat fleas are particular to cats - they would possibly not hassle puppies or persons.

The only thing that i can think of doing is going to the vet and getting the advantage or advantic which ever one is for dogs and also ask them for the flea pill.

When all the fleas are gone from your rat then they won't have anything to feed of of in the house.

Or you can call the exterminator most just charge about 35 to 40 a month to spray your house and your yard, believe me if not the fleas its worth it for the ants.....lol
