Monitor will not turn off after shutting down windows XP?

Shutting down, but the monitor will not shut down even with power switch to the off position. Ive had to add a external cord to a power strip to turn it off. Have checked for updates, and all settings it seems and still having this problem. The monitor I have is about 5 years old, and is a 18.1 Princeton flat screen. Have any other's had this problem and if so advise please. Thanks AL

Sounds like something is wrong on the inside of it. Maybe the power button isn't compressing and releasing the bridge that provides power to the monitor. You can easily pry off the power button if it's older and check this. I don't advise that though. And if it's anything more than that I would say just buy a new monitor. A monitor problem can be more expensive to fix than buying a new monitor would be. And the fix will probably leave you with a little bit worse quality than before the fix.

i consider you're at the correct monitor..... it does sound like a force quandary. i've heard of stranger matters. what occurs whilst you log into nontoxic mode? does it keep on for very long time? if the reply isn't any then the trouble is the force. i could installed yet another force and spot if you happen to get the identical outcome after reloading the os and application. you might additionally check out scanning the force for any problems like dangerous clusters if you'll be able to get the force to stick on in nontoxic mode. well good fortune.
