How can a contact person no longer be on my list?

Judas Rabbi used to be one of my contacts, now he's gone. How can this happen?

    It can be done by that person one by one (by blocking the person) or in bulk (by opting to have 'no fans' anymore, which dumps them all). Since Judas Rabbi no longer allows people to add him as a contact (I just tried), that last one is what happened.
