xbox 360 problem!!! help!!!!?
When i leave my xbox 360 on for about 5 minutes it cuts off and two red lights flash (only two). I know about the ring of death deal but i dont think thats what it is because the xbox 360 booklet says two flashing red lights means its over heated. Im thinking since it cuts off after few minutes that its on that its cuz the fan may not be working properly. I have no idea what could be the problem.

according to this it is an overheating issue, things to do.dont buy a fan internal or intercooler.it will pull more air out but,it will not help in the long run.
why?
the cpu/gpu and their heatsinks are overheating and all the fans will do is either move the air inside the 360 or pull it from the back(in the case of the intercooler) therefore the cpu/gpu and their heatsinks will always be overheating.
its due to the fact that the thermal compound which is on the cpu/gpu and the heatsinks is dry or the thermal compound has moved to the edges of the cpu/gpu and collagulated.
i just sorted one of my 360's out yesterday morning,it took about an hour or so to do.i had to completely dismantle the 360 and remove the motherboard.underneath the motherboard are 2 X brackets, they hold the heatsinks on the cpu/gpu.they had to be unlatched to release them.
i made a small thin scraper and removed the collagulated thermal grease from around the cpu/gpu and scraped the remenents off the heatsinks.then i used some, tim cpu and heatsink cleaning fluid (it is citric based cleaner) i applied it to the left overs of microsofts thermal compound, left it for a minuite and then wiped the cpu/gpu and the surrounding areas with a piece of toilet paper.then i did the same to the heatsinks.
then i used artic silver5 thermal compound and applied it to the cpu/gpu and heatsinks with a small piece of plastic nice and liberaly.not too much but,not too little.then i reassembled the 360.i checked it to be sure it worked and booted games.
well today i have spent a few hours on xboxlive and i only had one freeze so far.
before it was all over the place.so in my books its a good sign.
i got an xcm fan coming today,i actualy ordered it before i did the maintainence on the 360.but,it was bugging me that much i just had to do it.so when it comes i MIGHT! fit it.but, for overheating if i was you i wouldnt be too reliant just on a cooling method(fan/intercooler etc)cos it still dosn't sort the prob which is the cpu/gpu and heatsinks needing some tender loving care.so best is to sort the actual problem.
hope this might help you.all you would need if you decide to try and sort it is the tools to open the 360,the cleaning fluid and thermal grease and some time.there are how to's all over the net on how to dismantle the 360 so just google HOW TO DISMANTLE XBOX360 .

You can get a wireless adapter for the xbox, but that's expensive (around 100$). Another option, is connecting a laptop to the xbox and using it as a wireless adapter with ICS (internet connection sharing) - search youtube for it if you are interested in that. Another option can be using a switch, which is like a "station" for the cable, where you can connect another cable from it to your computer, but buying a longer ethernet cable is more simple - you can get one in any normal computer / gamers store.

Where do you keep your Xbox? Is it in a place where it can easily heat? Is the room hot? Do you have anything next to the xbox that makes it heat up? Have you ever dropped your xbox? Ask yourself and make sure that none of these happened or is happening

if the red lights r the top 2 lights (aka 1st and second player controller) it means yer av input plugs r in wrong. make sure to plug in the right plugs too. the blue and green and the red one r for HDTVs, and the red yellow and white r for regular TVs. if u have an HDTV, pug them all in. also check the power supply pack make sure the light is amber colored

yeah, your fan may be running slow. try not using it for 1 or 2 days, then play it. you might be playing it too much so it gets way overheated. i've never had this problem, but most likely a part in the fan is broken or something. hope it helped!

Your fan might be clogged. How long has it been running? Blow air into the fan and clean it out. If that doesnt work, check on youtube how to cool it, the video most people say works.

I would take it to Gamestop or Bestbuy and ask them what the problem was.
Listen, if you can't hear the fan moving then it's probably not working. :P
Otherwise I don't know what's wrong.
