i remember seeing a tool that you could use to flip a pontail and feed it into the center of the base so that your hair is what holds/wraps the ponytail. wouls like to get it as a gift but have no idea the name or where to find it.

I think you are referring to a topsy tail. I had the doll way back in the day. Try beauty supply stores.
