Gateway Laptop w/ Windows XP sound won't work! Help!!?

Ok. The sound was working great and then all of a sudden, nothing. I have checked everything and it says that everything is on...What do I need to do? I haven't deleted anything so I don't know why the sound would just stop! Thanks for all the help. (If you have a stupid response just to get points, it isn't wanted!!!)

might be you need a driver update or your soundcard went bad contact the company for driver updates via the web. Not really sure if you are still covered via waranty or not being a XP so if not call a tech to test your pc. chances are it a little thing like afew new updates or driver upgrades.

reinstall your audio driver. if that does not work... right click on my computer click the hardware tab click on device manager click sound, video and game controllers. double click on the hardware driver that is not working (check devise status) make sure it says that the device is working properly. if its not but is enabled then your operating system forced it to stop because of a malfunction. in this case you can either restore your computer completely (reinstall windows) or replace the device

Go to gateway.com, http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/dlcente... put your serial number and get the sound drivers and install it again, it should work.
