Giardia - 2 puppy household?

Our 14 week old pup has just been started on treatment for giardia. Only thing is we also have a 7 mth old, and are worried he could catch it too. He has no symptoms - but should we be isolating the poorly pup away from the older one?

Don't worry about them coming in contact with eachother-it's the backyard you have to worry about. The parasite is spread through feces. I would clean up all the poo in the backyard and spray the areas with outdoor bleach in order to try and decontaminate it.

Giardia isn't a serious parasite-it's basically a nuisance. Also-be careful with yourself as it can and will spread to humans as well. Be sure to wash your hands pleanty.

I work at a dog-daycare and we had a little giardia outbreak last year. I never got it, neither did my dogs (of course I stopped taking them to work with me until it passed once I found out it was going around...). Many dogs didn't get it simply because we made sure to keep the backyard spotless and bleach the areas where they relieved themselves.
