How do I split my Cablevision cable box?

Do I need to split off of the main cable which is in my basement or can I do a split on my upstairs bedroom leading into the bedroom that I wish to have the cable?

you need to spilt the cable anywhere before the box if you split it after the box (between the box and the tv) your second tv will only receive the channel the box is on. when you spilt the main line and run it to a second tv you will only receive basic cable service on that tv. if you want to get expanded service on tv 2 you will need a second cable box

Sorry. I couldn't resist. As long as the signal strength is sufficient, you should be able to add a splitter from any line. You have a single feed entering your home which is split into other connections. Each split weakens the signal strength somewhat which may require the use of an amplifier...but I doubt you'll need one for one additional split.
