Should crystals and gemstones be classified together, if so under what?

I've collected information about both of them, and I think they should go together but I have no idea what broad catagory to put them in.

They are all minerals. Gemstones and natural crystals are all minerals with the exception of amber, pearl coral and one or two others which are organic materials.

Not all crystals are gemstones. A gemstone has to be rare, durable and beautiful. Many crystals are too soft or too common.

Depending on the definition of crystal you are using, it could be said that all gemstones are crystals. In that case, you could classify both under crystals.
