Got information on the nasal nose piercing?
I'd like to know anything and everything about the nasal nose piercing. History, beliefs, the left or the right, pain, risks, healing time, myths, truths, etc. Any personal experience or knowledge is especially welcome. That's why I'm asking on here! Thanks.

People have likely been piercing their nostrils since ancient times.
It's meaning changes based on the times and culture you are part of. While it is an accepted (almost expected) mark in India, it is still considered a mark of "rebellion" by many conservative westerners. How a person feels about a nostril piercing and what meaning it conveys depends on their cultural background.
In the West, you can pierce whichever side of your nostril you prefer. It is your personal choice. Most ladies decide based on which side of their nose/face they prefer to accent.
The only associated myth I'm aware of is that one side or the other is the "gay" nostril piercing. That's completely untrue. There is no international nostril piercing sign for homosexuality.
A nostril piercing is a sharp, hard pinch. Afterwards it may be tender to clean and handle. Changing your jewelry early is incredibly uncomfortable and disruptive to your piercing, so if you need to have your jewelry switched for some emergency, see your piercer. After your piercing is healed, it may still be tender to change, but it is easily tolerable.
Many ladies assume that a nostril piercing heals quickly because it is so common. In reality a nostril takes 6-8 weeks to heal, and longer to become fully established. Durring this time you will need to clean the piercing carefully, avoid touching it with dirty hands, and leave your initial jewelry in place. If you can do these simple things, you should be infection-free and heal well.
Not all nostril jewelry is created equal. Some cheap nostril pieces are too thin, made of unsafe materials, and poorly constructed. Sterling silver is NOT safe for nostril piercings. It can oxodize (rust) in your piercing and leave a permanent black mark on your nose. Always wear nostril jewelry from a reputable source in a proper size and material.

Well, If you pierce your left nostril it is an Indian symbol of fertility and almost all women have one. Nose piercings on the left nostril are fertility and marriage symbols in a lot of other cultures as well (which I'd known this before I got mine done, as I did the right nostril)
Personally, my nose piercing hurt 10 times more than my ear piercings and if given the chance to do it again I wouldn't. It was sore for weeks afterwards whereas my ears only hurt right after I had them done (like 10 minutes after).
Healing time is about a month, which is shorter than ears. You can safely change the nose ring after about 4 months (although I still haven't figured out how to do that...its kinda painful for me for some reason)
