Duck-billed Platypus?

I have a Duck-billed Platypus named Walleye. I was feeding him the other day, and he started acting all crabby and flicking water at me and snapping at me. I told him to stop it, and smacked his bum and told him no. he then jabbed me with his stinger, and it hurts like hell. do you think I'll be alright I have Ice on it now... or should I go to the hospital? Damn you walleye!!!

Try using some powdered unicorn horn as an antidote.

I think you should get that checked out. I'm pretty sure it's not life threatening. But I've read that the stingers can have the potential to kill a dog.

    >Please keep in mind, this is a wild animal, whether it was raised by humans or not. The platypus was not bred to be domesticated like dogs and other usual pets. If he is healthy and happy, these actions are normal and natural and should be handled positively, and professionally. Not repressed.< Realize, when you own a wild animal, YOU have to adapt to/provide for ALL of their physical and psychological needs. NOT the other way around.

Before you make a decision to discipline an animal, make sure to research their psychology, comprehension, and social habits, ect.

A platypus is NOT a dog, so don't expect them to respond to you like one if you physically correct it.

Source(s): Some people have skunks for pets. Skunks do not do well with physical correction; when put through that, they often become aggressive, destructive, and anti-social. I'm not say a platypus has the same psychology as a skunk. I'm just saying, many unusually domesticated animals don't respond well to that kind of discipline. What you are doing could harm the platypus in the future, so please make sure to research or speak with a behavior specialist.

Sorry, you're a goner. There's no antivenin available for duck-billed platypus stings, only the other kind of platypus.

Apparently the only treatment is to minimize the pain. A doctor/hospital could give you something stronger than you would have access to otherwise.
