Don't be worried about figuring out how to play football, your coaches will most likely take the time to teach you all of the basics, from proper stance to proper hand placement. If you are going to be in 9th grade, you WILL be for the freshman team. Freshman teams are the building block of a great program, and the coaches are aware that most players do not know how to play their positions, or football at all.
I am a freshman football coach. Every year we get players who have never touched a football, or understand the concept of the game, especially when school starts. It seems that you already have a great advantage over most incoming freshman. You will find out that a lot of these kids never work out, or do anything during the off-season. Most of the players decide they want to play football on the first day of school.
My advice to you: Keep doing what your doing. Keep working out, conditioning, and eating right. If your school has a summer camp for the team, make sure you attend, because a lot of freshman do not. If you attend their summer camp, it will put you ahead of the incoming freshman who will arrive on the first day of school.
I wish you the best of luck!
DE sounds like it would be good for you.

If you know the rules then you are good in terms of knowing to play in a mental way
physical is alot different if you have never played... but once you get to practice and practice for a little bit then the games will be easier

Man you'll be fine, just pay attention to the coachs, Richard Seymour is a great DE and he didn't play till his Freshman year.

Well the plays and some of the wording may confuse you but it shouldn't be all too hard you seem young and I'm pretty sure most of the weight your packing on is going to be fat but good luck its not going to be hard.
