Is 'updation' a word?

I have recieved a document that I am correcting. The author used the word "updation". I googled the term and found many documents using it. Is this an emerging word, or one that I should safely correct?

If it's not in Webster or the OED, it isn't a word. Updation is just a new slang expression for the word update which you may feel more comfortable using. Slang is generally unacceptable for anything written other than personal correspondence.

Update works as a noun and a verb.

I take it that you are using the Excel file as the data source for the Word file. When you change data in the Excel file and run the mail merge, it will access the new information. You also have a chart in the word file, from an excel file that you want to automatically update. To do this, the chart has to be linked to the chart, not just inserted. If it is linked, right click on the chart and update the link. Make sure the Excel sheet is saved, and I think it might need to be closed.
