Newlywed / Housewife mistakes / disasters?

I'm looking for your newlywed / housekeeping mistakes/disasters to help spur some ideas for a book I'm currently working on. I'm hoping for situations like when you washed your new red t-shirt with white undershirts, making everything in the wash turn pink. That sort of thing. I'd love to read all your stories. Perhaps, your antics will end up in my book.

Thanks, Bev Oz

well, making a marinade i put baking soda in it, put a cap on it, shook it and wouldn't you know it, it exploded and painted the kitchen all red.

thinking it was flawed, i tried again just after cleaning the 1st time, when all of a sudden, BOOM, painted the kitchen one more time. The kitchen smelled pretty good for some time, a constant marinade. HA

It was supposed to be corn starch, not baking soda.

How about husband mistakes? I've spent the better part of my life taking care of me (of course i know how to do laundry). Bu, my husband went straight from his parents house, where his parents did most everything for him to being married to me (we got married right out of college).

One day my hubby took it upon himself to run the dishes through the dishwasher. However, he'd never done this before. He didn't know there was a different dish-washing detergent for it. So, he filled up the compartment with the palmolive dish washing soap! Oh my God, there were bubbles all over the kitchen floor. It was a huge mess. However, once he got it cleaned up the floor never looked better:)

Since then, I've taken it upon myself to show him how to do something first. Now, he's a pro at all housekeeping chores. We have a partnership, I'm not his maid. If he wants clean underwear, he knows how to work the washing machine now:)
