Story ideas???Examples and suggestions???10pts best answer!!!?

I need help coming up with a scene. I want it to portray the emotions of two ex lovers at a funeral who have come to mourn the death of a mutal friend. The lovers have not seen each other for three years. The characters are Lucas and Sarah. The funeral they are attending is Sarah's best friend. Lucas left Sarah three years ago after she turned down his proposal for marriage. Please help if you can...This is what I have so far:

Scene: at grave yard, Lucas has caught sight of Sarah as she has caught sight of him.

He paused to wave, but when his eyes caught hers again, her eyes were no longer inviting and warm, but cold and distant.

He paused to wave, but when his eyes caught hers again, her eyes were no longer inviting and warm, but cold and distant.

Sarah gazes into Lucas's eyes with an empty sorrowful look that reminded both of them of the pain they faced that night, three years ago.

(Add verbiage in between this part)

After the funeral Lucas approached Sarah with a sorrowful hello. He was unable to look her in the eyes. Sarah, however, returned a piercing gaze straight through Lucas remembering all of the lonely nights she spent crying herself to sleep.

Lucas managed to raise his eyes to meet Sarah's to notice the tear welling up, which was her way of saying that three years of time couldn't bandage the hurt that Sarah has felt and it showed the wounds that haven't healed.

    (Hope this is a start)

(this is if lucas's eyes had changed not sarah's that is just the way i see it) Lucas has a quick flashback of what happened when they broke-up. He remembered that he made a note never to do such a thing again. As much as he did not mean to look so unwanting to Sarah, Lucas could not help himself. Sarah wanted to know what went wrong with him, yet, on second thought she decided not to. Sarah had unusaly seen the same day, and wanted to talk. Paying no attention to the buriel, Sarah walked over to Lucas, and stood right to him like a crowded mall and wispered gentle enough to make it across to Lucas' ear, "Come with me to the caf'e down on Southern street." She continued, "We have to talk" After everything was done and over with Lucas followed Sarah to the french caf'e and talked all night. Lucas was hours away from home and decided to stay with Sarah for the night.-----that s all i have for now but i was thinking more happened, lucas never got home and they talked about the break-up day and relized that they were wrong to go apart and they were perfect for each other they soon got married and had children-------------hope i helped thax love ur ideas already!!!!

First off, it is not advisable to post your ideas as you have online. That makes it easy for someone else to claim your idea (especially since there are no copyright benefits on YA). Instead, you should join a writer's group (and in your situation, Romance Writers of America may be your best bet OR a local chapter/ class at a community college, etc.).

Secondly, you already have the story idea. What you now have to do is think of how you want it to end. There can only be two possibilities. Either they end up together or they don't. The thing that will hook your audience most, of course, is that they end up together. YOUR job is to make it seem like they won't, though. In order to achieve that effect, you must create conflicts throughout the story that will keep the characters physically together (perhaps they are both to inherit money from the friend's will or what-have-you, but provided that they meet certain circumstances - such as repairing the deceased house together & selling it, living in the home for an alloted time b/c the deceased knew they should be together, or other conflicts). Meanwhile, the conflicts that bring them physcially together should keep them emotionally apart (perhaps she resents him b/c he got drunk and had an affair or he resents her b/c she put her job before him - or perhaps (to make it REALLY interesting) they both thought that the other was in love with the deceased - making one of them bisexual).

After you've decided how you would like your story to end, have written an analysis of each character and have an idea as to what conflicts may arise, be sure to do an outline. Outlining what is to happen first, second, third will keep your story on track.

You may also want to do some additional research. I would suggest books such as "The Art of Romance Writing" and anything history-wise that will help you vividly paint the background.

I think the scene is great, but this is a funeral. The two characters probably do really want to talk. But there is still a lingering sorrow due to the funeral, so there both probably wont want to act happy to see each other (at leats until after the funeral).

it would be cool if sarah was looking at him like that because she knew that her friends death wasnt accidental and that it was planned but she didnt know who planned it,and maybe after that visit to her friends funeral, some of her and her friends(and lucas)were staying at the same hotel but all in different rooms.and wen lucas would try to talk to her she would just ignore him and walk away.but then, one by one they would all get slaughtered and nobody will no why..and then at the end sarah finds out it was lucas and one of her friends and ends up killing them and she turns out to be the only survivor. why lucas and sarahs friend went on a rampage....you'll have to make that up.

have fun with this,if you choose to use this

well, here are some questions that might help you.

how did lucas know sarah's best friend?

are you going to switch points of view between the characters?

why is sarah so cold and mean toward lucas?

what does lucas think about sarah when she gives him the glare?

does lucas want to be friends again?

    why doesnt sarah?

i hope that helps! (p.s. my sis is named sarah!) ;)

i have seen a few of your questions and i have to say i really think your book is sounding better an better so keep up the good work xx anyway back to your question, i think you should mix the 2 ideas maybe captain doyle stole it from the other pirate, but mary swooped in and stole it from captain doyle but this other pirate still thinks doyle has it, but doyle knows mary took it and made a fortune, so he is blackmailing her for the money to save his own life. edit- oh i have another idead. i mean you dont have to use it but tell me what you think? so i remember mary gave her girls to a foster family, how about you get captain doyle to get the foster parents to give the annoymus tip off- that would be good. mary would think no ones knows about her girls xx good luck xx another edit- yes i think ur idea is the best defo , i really hope u do well and let me know when it gets published( im sure it will) cause i want to read it lol x

    okay maybe somethin like this....

He paused to wave, but when his eyes caught hers again, her eyes were no longer inviting and warm, but cold and distant.{Your part }--------------------------------------

Even though it had been years since that fateful day, he was still hurt. "Will you Marry me," Lucas mumbled.

    "No..." Sarah had said.

That time went through his head over and over again making him even more emotional. He turned away. He felt tempted to just touch her again; to feel her fingers russel through his hair once more, just to have a taste.

Sarah was as beautiful as ever, but he couldn't even glance at her anymore. Then Lucas thought to himself. (italisized)"Why do I feel this way again? I haven't seen her in ages, but she still takes my breathe away? Maybe I'm just crazy."

Lucas started to walk away when someone gentley pulled his shoulder. It was his taste of her, of Sarah. Just the softest touch of her made chills crawl down his back. It was tramautizing.

"Uhm... I saw you over there and I guess I just wanted to say hi. I guess to catch up," Sarah proposed.

    "Oh...uhm yeah, sure."

"No, no," There it was again. That one heart-breaking word, " Not right now. We're at a funeral. Maybe, I was thinking we could catch up at the cafe. Say tomorrow, 7:30? Unless you have plans," Sarah replied.

Here was his chance, his chance to get to know her all over again, but should he take it? "Oh no, I don't have any plans. My schedule's all clear."

Sarah chuckled, " Still have a planner, I take it?" Sarah walked away.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------

And then maybe have some stuff about how Sarah felt when she approached him. I didn't know what point of veiw you had your story in so if it's not in this point of veiw, then I'm sorry, but I tried.

Maybe you can include that she knows a deep dark secret of his that she knows he'll never share with her. Where's the setting of the story meaning location and how old are the characters? Sorry if i'm being to nosey but I LOVE drama stories like this. lol.....
