Is it me or does ESPN's Steve Phillips bash the Yankees ever chance he gets?

Let him talk all he wants....he was saying the same thing crap last year at this time and where did the Yankees end up...? The playoffs. Not the best by Yankee standards but he keeps saying the Yankees have no chance. This loud mouthed uneducated squirt turd needs to let go of his Mets history and stop begrudgingly hate the Yankees because they beat him in 2000 and got him fired!!!

Maybe because he was the Mets GM before and took a bunch of s**t by Yankees fans in NY from it and will refuse to give them the credit they deserve. Just a guess though as I do not live in NY and am not a Yankee/Met fan.

I think he is right about the Rivera situation where he said "because i dont think Rivera has the stuff to make a mistake anymore, Papelbon can make a mistake and get away with it," which is indeed true, because Rivera is the best closer in Baseball and in an Yankees uniform, he can't make as many mistakes as Papelbon. There are high expectations for the future Hall of Famer. About the Yankees not making the playoffs and his other predictions, I just have to say that it is just too early into the season to make any sorts of predictions. The Yankees have started the seasons horribly for at least 4 years now and in all those years they have made the playoffs. Now to think about it, every single Yankee hater has predicted the Yankees of doing bad, but thier predictions are always wrong. This just shows that no matter who makes predictions regarding baseball the outcome will always be 50-50.

Is it possible, just possible, that he is saying that his opinion is that the Yankees won't make the playoffs because....

Jeter is having a bad Jeter year

Matsui may be gone for the year

    Damon has missed time

    Arod has missed time

Giambi is no longer on the juice

Cano didn't hit in the first half

Their 'ace' went down because he can't run bases

Their best starter was demoted to the bullpen last year and still was resigned

Their two future kings, the ones they wanted to keep over Santana, have combined for an era over 7

    Kyle Farnsworth

They actually were desparate enough to bring up Igawa and sign Ponson and Milton.

Could these be any actual factors for his 'bashing' rather than he just doesn't like the Yankees.

    Besides

I saw someone post '27 in 08' just the other day.

3rd place in a division and some one thinks they are winning the world series.

Someone has to balance out the karma of idyllic Yankee fans.

Do you have the choice to mute him while he's on, or is he required listening?

Although brettj66 has some valid points at why the yankees were pretty bad in the first half. Why is Ponson 3-0 with the Yanks? Matsui gone the rest of the year, name a year where he hasnt been injured? Cano is prob the best player after the all star break hitting .522? Kyle farnsworth with 9 no hit innings.

    yea

i just want to bring up sumthing people are blind to

and it is very obvious but they wont admit it

theyre is new york bias going around every were

steve philips does bash the yankees every chance he gets weere on a 5 game winning streak instead of saying they need to place this way for the rest of the season he sez dey dont have enough depth to make tha playoffs

wen is people for once would use theyre head the yankees are in a great postion right now idiot sports writers sayin oo the yankees were batting .290 wiith runners in scoring postion in 07 and now are batting .230 they have dropped by 60 points dat is all luck it alwayz evens out during the duration of the season just like how the tampa rays were on pace to win 105 games deyre not going to do that theyre coming back to reality and the yankees are notorious for second half runs and players will always end up playing to the numbers on the back of cards and jeters is going to catch fire he is not a .280 hitter cano was not going to hit .210 arod is nott even having his best season and he will get better bobby abreu has been average and like i sed b4 it all evens out in the end.

It's not just him my friend. Many people all over the world bash the Yankees. Can't you see the anti Yankees bias even among the users of this site?

The fact is, people are jealous of greatness. That's right I said GREATNESS. I don't speak just about their history, I speak about them this year too. The Yankees are the best team in baseball, and this second half will prove it to the non believers.

The Yankees take on contracts of players that are just getting too old. They have a hole in the pitching staff which will be there downfall.

  • He doesn't bash the Yankees ALL the time.
