Spiritually speaking, would it be too terribly tacky...?
...for a group of friends, mostly female but with two or three men in the group, to dress for Halloween as a group of FLDS members? One of the men in the group is inspired by current events and not bound by good taste--he dressed as Larry Craig last year by putting on a refrigerator carton with wingtips (the better for demonstrating his wide stance) and a pair of suit pants that he kept down.
Also, how would you react, and would you try it yourself?
Oh, *I'm* not doing it. I'm going to be with another group of friends, celebrating the Sabbat of Samhain like a good little Witch. But I have to admit that I'm a little sorry to be missing out on the pastel-dress-and-combat-boots fun.

If I can dress up as Winnie the Pooh In Leather, or as Divine (from Pink Flamingos) -- I don't think dressing up as FLDS members would be all that tacky.
Winnie the Pooh In Leather (with a whip, leather shorts and titty clamps) even weirded out the gay leather community!

that doesn't come close to the poorest taste in a costume I've ever seen. I knew a guy who once went to a Halloween party dressed as Jackie Kennedy on the day of the assassination. Without getting too graphic, I'll just say that there was some oatmeal involved. He ended up feeling ashamed though, when someone pointed out that Jackie never would have worn his white shoes after Labor Day.

I think I'd rather dress as a character from the Rocky Horror Picture Show before doing that.

Tacky and fun? Isn't that what costume parties are all about? Don't mind the overly-PC people who have no sense of humor. You can get some pretty cool ideas here: http://www.fldsdress.com/

I think it'd be tacky. You would be making fun of a group, remember. I'm not sure what FLDS Is, but legally, small groups have protection by law and I wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot pole. Or a twenty foot pole. Or a 30 foot pole...

I think it would be terribly tacky, as the FLDS promote pedophilia.
I would not try it.

I think it would be creatively and acceptably tacky. I encourage you to do it and have fun doing it!

Why is it that questions that begin with "spiritually speaking" never address spiritual matters?
Why is this question in the R&S section? Halloween has nothing to do with religion, or spirituality.
The man in your "group" that you speak of seems to be in need of prayer, not taste.

Each are really bad ideas..
Why do you need to do the stuff that may offend/be unfunny?
