If we declare bankruptcy (sp?) can we save our house?

My d-bag father has decided to leave our family after 20 years. Our house is currently in foreclosure but Countrywide is thinking about selling the house back to us. The house is in my mother's name. If she goes bankrupt is there anyway for us to save our home?

Any information AT ALL would be so wonderful.

Yes, you can most likely keep your house.

Declaring bankruptcy will halt the foreclosure procedure. Then you'll have to reaffirm the mortgage debt.

    Talk to a BK attorney.

    Good luck.
