Jelly type poo, concerning?
Our 15 week old puppy has been on medication and bland wet food for about a week and half as treating Giardia. One day his poo seems to be getting more formed and normal and then the next it's a bit too soft. However his 2nd poo today was like a jelly mocousy substance. Can anyone advice us what this might mean?

It sound to me like your dog is just about done with his case of Giardia.
His "jelly poo" should return to normal within about 3 days.

It sounds like that the medicine is doing its job, use causion handling the poo, Giardia is caused by parasites, it's unknown if humans can be infected.

mucous means irritated colon.wait a little while, and the dog may need another course of treatment for Giardia.
Its stubborn to get rid of:the cysts(like the eggs) are shed in the stool, remain on the fur, the ground in the environment.
Source(s): the treatment is 10-12days?wait 2 weeks, repeat the treatment. - Anonymous1 decade ago
it is the moist food that will do it but if you are too concerned go to the vet to ease your mind
