A staff infection or Staphylococcus Aurie's is a virulent and highly infectious infection that takes a lot of medicine and time to heal.
It starts by a pimple pinching or some other type of skin break and the staff, which we all have, the body is already broken down from something else, then the staff gets in and starts to incubate.
It can be weeks, months or even a year, before it migrates to the inner organs and can even turn into a MRSA or flesh eating bacteria.
He has to see his doctor right away, with a transcript of the diagnosis if possible from the lab to save time.
They will run tests to see how virulent this is and what types of biotics to use, usually a Bactern anti biotic works well.
And, I'm afraid, yes, he can spread this but, you don't have to go crazy sanitizing anything, just common procedures with washing the hands etc, will work.

Staph infections are highly contagious, if it has not got proper dressings and medical attention. Great care needs to be taken such as keeping things clean, and germ free.
Most staph infections are actually picked up in hospitals, staph can sit for ages on anything waiting to be picked up. Staph eats the body.
If you are going to be looking after him, make sure that you wash your hands regularly. But everyone needs to be kept clean. Use anti bacterial stuff to clean.

"Staph bacteria can spread through the air, on contaminated surfaces, and from person to person. Kids can carry staph bacteria from one area of their body to another — or pass it to other people — via dirty hands or fingernails. So good hand washing is vital to preventing staph infections."

To disinfect i would recommend a low concentration bleach solution and again wash your hands regularly(#1 Way to prevent spreading communicable diseases)

you don't necessarily need to sterilize the home, but a little bleach in the common areas would help.
i'm not sure how mobile either of them is, but it would help 100% if you made sure they were both properly washing their hands after using the bathroom.

There's many variants of Staphylococcus aureus....including the methicillin resistant kind which we know can spread (MRSA)....so I would imagine it depends on the kind of staph infection.
