Is 91k miles alot for a 2002 volkswagen beetle?

I am going to look at one today but the high mileage is making me weary. Do volkswagens tend to last long?

Update:

I am going to look at one today but the high mileage is making me weary. Do volkswagens tend to last long? The dealer is asking around $10k for it which I'm thinking I can talk them down but I have to do the buy here pay here option. Is that a reasonable price also? Kelly blue book has it being around that price but in reality should it be lower because it has so many miles? It was a one owner non smokers car and it hasnt been in any accidents. I went on carfax and it only has 12 records on it but I dont own a subscription to look at the details of what the records are.

Okay listen here, you dont have to take my advice if you dont want too but I am a Volkwagen Dealer. First piece of advice do not buy a VW unless it is from the VW Dealer. There are alot of special tools that are needed to work on any kind of VW there for it probably has not been certified nor really worked on or looked at. All of the mechanics in a VW dealer have to be certified to even change to oil. Now about the price, I have a loaded out 2000 Beetle on my lot with only 50,000 miles which is about half and I am only asking 8995 for it, so yes, 10,000 is a lot of money for a nearly 100,000 mile car. Personally, if it were me, I wouldnt offer over 7995 for it. Chances are he has between 2500 and 3000 dollars mark up. Hope this was some help and good luck in the purchase of your new vehicle.

its a little high, but not too bad, at all. 10 g's is quite a bit, but as the other answerer said (under 1500), that won't happen, if you think you can get it for 7-8 g's it would be a great price or even maybe 9. then do tend to have problems, but they areminor ones, the main problem is AC, but that can be fixed. VW has alot of mixed opinions on it, people either say they love it or hate it. it really just depends. but the one owner, no smoking, no accidents thing is definately a plus, if your looking for a beetle, i would definately try and get my hands on that one :)

On average a car does 10,000 miles a year. So it is now 8 years old, and 10 x 8 = 80. So yeah, below average. You need to check when the cam belt needs changing on a beetle, because on normal cars it can be around the 60,000 mile mark, and it can be quite a costly job if it hasn't been done already. Good Luck

10k is too high. My dad is a pre-owned Volkswagen salesman. i'd say around 7k is what you should be paying. Volkswagens DO last long. This other person doesn't know what they are talking about, the parts are not that expensive or hard to find. maybe for a bmw, but not a vw. Try to talk them down, if they won't, don't bother.

for that year there are a lot of issues. I'm possitive you will run into them with that mileage. a lot of them are minor but the key word is a lot. Considering it is european parts are expensive. Question is are you getting a good deal on it? If you are buying it for less than 1500 dollars, and engine it self is good, and tran it self is good, Go for it, but be prepared to spend twice, or three times as much fixing all the issues.
