That fly really doesn't look like either one of these flies,so I have no clue. I think it is a type of deerfly,though.

Yes, it is a horsefly or "deer fly" one of many species. The clear wings with black markings confirm this.

We get them around my house and my horses literally jump at the sound and sight of them...they leave a nsaty bite!

It looks to me like some sort of Horsefly.
