What are the laws regarding someone divorcing in CA?? Please read??

How would you go about this if you haven't been able to find the person you were married to for over 15 years???

My dad would like to remarry but can't b/c we can't find his MIA wife to sign the divorce papers. She ran off in 1992 and hasn't been heard from since.

Any advice would be great!! No rude comments!!

Thank you!!

He could file as a 'abandoned spouse'. . . . He doesn't have to remain married and in limbo forever.

if he is unaware of her whereabouts, after he files he will need to do the service of summons by publication. he will need an order from the judge before he is able to do that. if there is no response 30days after the summons has been published, he may then proceed by default. i recommend he get some help from the courts family facilitator.

I agree...I want to say that the limit for abandonment is ten years, but it could just be five. Check into that.
