Why are there so many idiots on the roads these days?
It seems that everyday I drive anywhere, someone makes a incredibly stupid and dangerous move with their car. i.e.- I saw an elderly lady driving with her rear drivers side door wide open. She wasn't even aware of it. Seriously shouldn't the elderly be restricted from driving? I'm tired of these ignorant people on the roads! I have news for you. When you pass me on the right and I'm going 5mph over speed limit, then you get to a red light not a quarter of the way up the road, what was the point of driving so fast. I caught up to you naturally! So you didn't get where you wanted to go any faster did you? Idiots!

I ask this question all the time. I see so many driving violations just when- out walking the dogs every morning- people blowing right through stop signs on our suburban streets, the speeding on the 30mph main road and the 25mph side roads, the passing on the right, the talking AND texting on phones while driving, the right turns on red with NO stop.. And still an obnoxious number of gas guzzling vehicles. I've long believed that EVERY lisenced driver, not just the elderly, should be retested every 5 years. And when people are caught and fined for doing stupid, potentially lethal things while behind the wheel, there must be more severe punishment that carries weight. 2 weekends ago, in this area, 3 motorcyclists were killed in 2 seperate incidents by irresponsible drivers. One was hit & run, with the 2 people on the bike were fatally injured and dead at the scene in the early morning. Police did catch the driver eventually who said he knew he hit them and fled because he was afraid of being in trouble for DUI , the other accident was a speeding teen driver who hit a motorcycle and killed the rider. A few years ago my own brother-in-law & his son were riding their Harleys on a lovely fall day when-BAM- a carful of teens in daddy's Audie ran a red light and nailed both of them, turning bikes into pretzels and sending 2 men to the hospital with broken legs and backs. I don't know. We're surrounded by idiots. The ones that don't yield, the ones that don't use turn signals, the speeders, the drunks. OK enough. sorry. I've made some driving blunders in my time but I try not to be an idiot.

I see some young idiot every day that can not figure out how to work his turn signals makes left turns across three lanes , drives around on the phone talking about nothing important and feels that his big shiny wheels give him special driving
privileges. Should raise the age to 30 for first license

what do u mean by elderly? 50,,,60,,70...how about a test every 5 yrs after age 65...there more people on the roads...more pressure...cars are faster...people live farther from work than 30/40 yrs ago...they spend a lot of time in their cars and tend to think they are "home" and can do whatever they want.

Our society is rampant with acts of self-destruction that leave most of us perplexed and asking, "Why did he or she do that? Why did I do this? How could this happen?"
Self-sabotage is the proverbial hammer over the head that finally wakes us up, demanding that we pay attention.
For most of us, it takes something devastating to crack us open......

Driving education in the States is definitely inadequate, and our driving test is way too easy...

Why are you looking at me!?! I don't think it's any different than it ever was. I watch old films all the time and people have always been crazy in cars.
