What do they do for a World War II vet funeral, anything special?

My uncle in his 80's just died today. He was a world war II vet. I know when my grandfather died, a world war I vet, they had 21 gun salute with a canon. I was wondering what to expect this time. Salute WWII vet. They gave us so much.

Update:

Today we lay him to rest. They say we will get a 21 gun salute the flag and honor gaurd thing. They say we are gong to get a flyover. He volunteered to stay in EU longer and also volunteered as a guard at the Nuremberg trials. I will miss you so much Unlce. Say hi to my mom up there.

Salute to your Uncle, with all due respect from a Vietnam vet. Your Uncle is entitled to an honor guard to accompany the flag draped coffin, a 21 gun salute fired by the honor guard (rifle, not cannon), Taps played & the flag folding and presentation ceremony to the next of kin/spouse. Three empty cartridges from the salute are placed in the folded flag to represent duty, honor, country. The honor guard is usually affiliated with the local VFW in the area and provides this service upon request.

I'm in a quandary, My father died in 1973 and was cremated. Where his ashes lie in the cemetery without a stone, marker, flag, nothing. I was 13 and his soul heir, but some how the final few of our relatives that showed up thought I should be seen and not heard. I don't want to get too into this because I feel you can help me. Bottom line is that as far as I know, of course it is through the eyes of a child, that being said he deserves recognition for his Army tour of duty overseas. 1943-45. I am not sure of anything since I haven't had contact with any of my family since. Dad or Mom's side. I have no money except to squeak out a mere existence, never have money to go to these sites that have the answers I need. It comes down to the all mighty dollar. Something I don't have. I have run into a wall and I still can't help my Father. Thanks. Sorry I loaded all that on you. Can someone reply? please

First off, I'm sorry to hear about your uncle. When my grandfather died who was a WW2 Vet, my grandmother was given a flag and a 21 gun salute and that was all.
