Legal, free, music download site?

A while back I found this music download website which is legal as it payed the record companies through advertising their artists...

But I cannot find it again :S

Does anybody know any sites like that?

Well i think you must install Limewire which enables you to download songs you like, only the thing is you must know the artist and the song, just type the name of the song, then click download then there you are!

"Legal" and "free" are words that don't apply to music, unless it's tracks that are released into public domain.

The cheapest legal downloading site I've found is mp3search.ru and its sister site www.gomusic.ru

There, you can get a whole album for around $1, and they pay some proceedings to the artists

To be legal, I always use Tesco's download services as I have an account with them.

But for free music, Limewire and Bit Torrent. I haven't tried torrent, but both are known for containing viruses. (we have virus and spyware constant protection).
