Are the media and journalism in India doing the role of fifth estate?

This refers to various abundantly aired sensational news being the order of the day without any follow-up news of the same later, taking the readers/viewers for granted.

The media and journalism in India are doing the role of (fourth) fifth estate, by and large, erratically, whimsically, commercially and suiting their respective convenience. While doing the whole exercise, "sometimes" the desired role do get enacted intentionally or unintentionally!! Commercial compulsions, secret or obvious affiliations make them compromise on vital aspects of reporting and sharing. Abundant presence in the absence of self-discipline, ethics, professionalism and of late exploiting this as a convenient channel for self-serving.....have raised many unanswered serious question for a long long time now about the credibility and standing of this estate.

Some of them are really doing their job to the society and the country and most of them are not.

Let us encourage and appreciate those, who are really doing it.

Yes, the media and journalism the two forces are doing their bit, I welcome & appreciate their sincere effort, but for those, who are not, I request them to disassociate themselves from this social cause.
