In the run-up to the Olympics people have been talking a lot about China's pollution problems,?

Cetin- I lived in China. I have watched CCTV-9 plenty of times. I have also experienced the idiocy of governmental officials when it comes to environmental clean-up efforts. In my city we wanted to organize cleaning up a local mountain that had a lot of visible trash on it. We were told we could not pick up the trash because the mountain wasn't dirty since they had someone to clean it. Even a blind person walking up that mountain would be able to hear the wrappers and bottles crunching under their feet. However, if we cleaned it up we would essentially be telling the locals that the government offcials were lying about cleaning up the mountain since somebody was supposed to be getting paid to clean it up. It's so weird because just walking on that mountain the locals can see that the government officals are lying and don't care about cleaning the mountain up.
