When did Peter become a recognized doorkeeper?

When did Christianity accept Peter as the one that either lets one into or keeps one out of Heaven?

Update:

I realize that this is something that has been accepted without knowledge of the "why", but I'm trying to find out at what part of Christendom did this legend become perpetuated.

When Jesus said to Peter that he would give him the keys to the kingdom Mathew 16:19. those 3 keys were used here on earth, not in heaven.

Luke 11:52 Jesus here is telling us what those keys are and would have to do with the unlocking of the secret knowledge.

    Romans 16:25; Colossians 1:26, 27

Paul explains the purpose of this scared secret Ephesians 1: 9-12; 3:5, 6

Key 1: the out pouring of Holy Spirit at Pentecost 33 CE. Acts 2:1-41; 4:1-4

Key 2: was when the way was opened for the Samaritans to worship Jehovah according to accurate knowledge.

Key 3: opening the way for Gentiles to have a relationship with Jehovah. . Romans 11:17-19, 24; Acts 10:1-48; 15:7-9

There are no other keys need to be used.

It is a misconception. The Bible doesn't say anything about him "manning" the gates to heaven, and he CERTAINLY doesn't "let one into or keep one out of heaven". Only God has that capacity.

    It's a legend, not fact.

Only God decides who gets into Heaven.

Matthew 16: 17Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven.

18And I tell you that you are Peter,[c] and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades[d] will not overcome it.[e]

19I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be[f] bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be[g] loosed in heaven."

20Then he warned his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Christ.

Those of you who disagree, please read the Bible.
