deleting unwanted programme.?
I have apple i tunes on the computer and recently selected an update....when it had downloaded it put an apple safari icon on the desktop and this became the default brower instead of internet explorer....it didnt make this clear prior to the download...I wanted to delete the programme, but when I went to control panal I couldnt find it under the apple programmes, it seemed to be bundled together with quick time player which I want.....Is there a way to find out which bit refers to the apple safari other than looking in the control panel?

windows has a programme called system restore (start - help & support) which will reset and restart your computer at a previous date, whilst saving all your files, restart option dates are highlighted on the calendar, deploy this and set a date prior to your installation of this piece of unwanted junk!

Quickstart! The bane of my computer life.
Sorry if you already tried this ...
Go to Control Panel
Click ADD OR REMOVE PROGRAMS
Wait for list to 'populate' (their word)
Click on the ones you want to uninstall and follow the instructions (they vary).
To stop things opening in Safari, you can right-click a hyperlink and select OPEN WITH.... Don't select your preferred browser yet; - hit the browse for other programs button, and select it from there. Then check the box that says "always use this program" or something like that, before you click OK.

instead of deleting the program set your default browser eg. firefox or internet explorer as your default browser
go to default programs and select the program you want as browser as default

I would uninstall the lot and then carefully reinstall
I had this Icon on my d/top but it does not do what yours is doing
