How long does it take to learn to sing?

I want to ask my g/f to marry me and I want to sing her a song. I only really need to learn to sing well enough to get through one song, one time. But I dont want to be so bad that it sort of dampens the moment. How long would it take to learn to sing well enough to get through this one song?

man if u r not gifted dont sing coz that will be so fake, showing what u can is always better than showing what u can't, everybody hav atleast one quality and its ur responsibility to find and nurish it.Find ur quality and show her, that way u can be an un-fake b/f......

For those people who are strictly visual learners and are tone def, you might have to learn how to read sheet music with an instrument before you start taking voice lessons. If you get a good teacher and practice about an 1 hour a day, you could learn within a year but the teacher has to know what he is doing. I've met teachers that couldn't teach some one to sing on key and others who could, as well as changing the tone and resonance of your voice. Lastly you should start out singing about 30 minutes a day and work your way up to 1 hour than 2. The last thing you want to do is stress your voice out by over practicing. It's not the quantity, it's the quality. So get a good teacher.

    That is sweet....

Just practice singing a whole bunch. If you go to church, ask the choir director there or one of the nice old ladies that have the big ol voices and sing real loud on the hymns that have taken lessons and sang for years to help. Im sure once you have told them what it is for they will be more than happy to help out, even if it is for just one song.

Alternately, you could find a decent voice teacher and take 3-5 lessons, just explain the circumstances when you ask them if they have any openings so you dont lead them to think they have a new student that will be with them for a while. They could charge 20-40 dollars an hour, so be prepared to pay a little.

Hope that works out for you!

    Good luck!

Remember to breath from your diaphragm. Work on posture, and open your mouth wide. Speak each word clearly (smiling helps. Don't worry, you won't look stupid even if you feel it, and you will get used to it). As for learning to sing, it depends on how fast you learn the technique, and how much natural ability you start with. Anybody can learn to sing, but some people have a harder time than others. It took me about a month to learn how to sing (and I had never sung before). Just keep pressing for your goal and keep practicing, and you'll have singing down in no time. Listen to everything your teacher says, and practice whenever you can. (feel free to message me if you want to know more)

You can't really learn to sing. Everyone can sing. Some people are just not good at it. You need to pick the song you want to sing and practice practice practice. Get singing lessons if you have to. Just remember that the singing isn't the most important part. Asking her to marry you is.

Practice on that song everyday, you will get better. I sing too and no one taught me how to sing. I listened to the radio and just sang in a different way. I was young when I learned how to sing, it took me a month or two. Good luck and I hope I helped.

  • It really depends on the song, some songs are a little trickier to learn while others you can pick up within an hour. Did you have a specific song in mind?

That all depends on how bad you want it and how quick you can learn.... You can do it. Just practice your ___off. She will love you for it and will never for get it....
