Are there going to be bad aftershocks for today earthquake in LA?

The aftershocks are always smaller than the original quake. If they are bigger, it is considered a separate earthquake(if the epicenter is far enough away geologically) or even the main earthquake and then the original earthquake is considered a foreshock. Also, aftershocks are more likely if the earthquake was shallow, as this one was. I live about 40 miles north of the one today and, though I grew up in San Diego, this one was scary, especially since the ground is not supposed to move like that here in VA. LOL

well theres about 10000 earthquakes in cali each yea so yes. The biggest aftershock recorded was 3.8. Lets wait to see what happens.

actually aftershocks can be far worse than initial quakes (excluding todays). I don't know why you crazy people WANT them...are any of you old enough to remember the Northridge earthquake that KILLED people? oh yea how exciting.

the aftershocks will go on for at least a few hours afterward, and could even extend into days afterward. Luckily because of the small magnitude of the quake, these will mostly go unfelt or be minimal tremors

Yeah there can be the news said it might last for a couple more days... Already 27 aftershocks. reported highest one about 3.8.

there have already been about 15 really small aftershocks. i doubt there would be any more after a few hours

There have already been more than 20 aftershocks and we havent been able to feel it. They are getting lighter and lighter so probably nothing we can feel.
