I have never heard of signing a w-4 before you where hired but I guess it depends on the job. Maybe they get all that out of the way so when you are hired you dont have much to do. I wouldnt understand why but they may have their reason of doing so, I know when I was a manager I wouldnt let them sign it until they came in for orientation.

    Good luck!

Pretty sure you have the job there is no need to fill out a w-4 if you did not get hired. It is only filled if you are hired so that your employer knows how much federal tax to with hold from your paycheck.

No, you're hired when you sign the employment documentation. Although, filling out and signing a W-4 is part of the process.

The job may still be contingent upon your passing a physical exam or when a background test is finished, but you are almost hired.
