Subway from Yankee to Shea Stadium (two games in a day?)...New Yorkers, please help me!?
I want to see the Yankees and the Mets in a day. The Yankees game starts at 1pm; the Mets game begins at 3:55pm...on a Saturday.
Assuming the Yankee game ends in less than 2 hours 30 minutes, it appears I'm going to miss part of the Mets game. Is the subway the fast way to Shea from Yankee Stadium? What lines and how long would it take? If I took a cab, how much time would I save over the subway assuming typical Saturday traffic and how much would that cost?

You'll take about 30 minutes to get to Grand Central from Yankee stadium on the 4 and it's another half hour to Shea stadium on the 7 IF you catch the express. You're better off taking a cab across the Triboro and take Grand Central Parkway to Shea - it's about 9 miles that way, and it'll cost you about $30 with the 15% tip. On Saturday you won't encounter too much traffic to slow you down, I think you could make it there in about 20 minutes or so, although by the time you get through (if leaving at about 3:30 from Yankee Stadium) you'll still be late to arrive for the full game at Shea.

Forget the subway - it'll be running on a Saturday schedule and you'll miss half the Mets game. Take a cab. It's really just a straight shot over the Triboro and then a few miles down the GCP. It's not far at all and traffic won't be too bad that time of day.

You're going to either have to leave the Yankees game at the 7th inning or settle for missing the first 2 innings of the Mets game. Your choice

dont take a cab. Take the subway to grand central, then from gs take the subway to shea. you would need to give yourself an hour

i would try the subway. Take the 4 train from yankee stadium to grand central. And switch to the 7 train and ride it to shea stadium. my guess would be anywhere from 30-45 min. (idk i dont live in ny)
good luck
