Drawbacks to Massage Therapy Career?
I am considering massage therapy school, i would prefer to work in a clinical setting. Can anyone who is/has been in school let me know what they like/don't like. And anyone already or once in the field let me know the pros and cons of a career in this field.

Most massage therapists start their own business. There are more jobs in the spa/salon settings. Working in a clinic you will need lots of clinical training and experience. You will probably have to start in a spa or some other type of place.
If you are going to be dealing with clients who are coming in with their insurance you will be dealing with a lot of psychological issues -like people who think they are going to get a big ins. settlement from a car accident will drag out their therapy. People with ins. usually also have some other issues going on. They are the first to cancel their appointments or not show up because they aren't paying for it. Insurance is also the biggest pain to take and bill for clients. Here in WA State where massage therapists can be contracted providers, the ins. companies are paying us less and less and cutting back allowed benefits significantly.
I have had my own practice for 20 years and have done mostly injury work and now I am reverting back to doing more relaxation massage and getting people involved in their healing. When people pay cash for their sessions it also makes them more serious about taking responsibility for their health from what I have seen.

it actual relies upon on the guy. Do you have the inducement, force, prefer, and qualifications to prevail? Do you delight in the paintings? Do you nonetheless study for the time of your profession? do you be attentive to the thank you to apply appropriate physique mechanics? are you able to furnish your consumers one among those remedies? how a lot of human beings do you be attentive to that could desire to efficiently paintings for themselves? probable not that many and multiple MT's will attempt working for themselves and get annoyed while consumers do not discover them. you are able to circulate to college for something and then burn out after 2 years. you are able to spend $eighty,000 on a level and not detect a job. There are people who've efficiently worked for upwards of 30 years doing rub down and that's greater desirable than you are able to say for multiple careers peoples get into. For me it grow to be an incredible selection. i for my section delight in rub down and that's a solid thank you to make money. You gets a commission $a million/minute or greater plus education. i will paintings complete time or section time on an identical time as i circulate to college and that's an incredible thank you to go into the worldwide of healthcare while you're like me and fascinated in actual therapy, med college, or nursing, yet you're worried concerning the cost of a school. rub down therapy isn't for each individual, some human beings could be attentive to all the ideas and nonetheless not have "the touch".
