how can I put up a large tunnel tent in the rain?
Realy don't wan't to miss the event, and for financial reasons it has to be camping for thee nights in worcester, the weather is predicted to be thundery showers, I'll be so upset if I can't make it any ideas? I have a gazeebo and thought about trying to assemble the tent under that but the tent is bigger when up, to make it worse we've only put the tent up once before in the garden, so we're going to be fumbling about with it for ages probably. any help gratefully received, thanks
I'm worried that if it gets soaked it won't be waterproof anymore, at least until it's thoroghly dried out.

Most tents have an outer and an inner, The inner is the bit you really want to keep dry,the bit you sleep in. Keep it in a bin bag or similar until you have put up the outer tent, then take your nice dry inner tent under the waterproof and newly errected outer tent and put it up inside. You can even take off you waterproof jacket to do that bit so you don't drip rain on the inner. It helps if your tent had a storage area outwith the sleeping area but inside the outer. That all sounds complicated but it is just the regular way to put up a tent in any weather (except for the bit about a bin bag). The outer tent is suposed to get wet sometimes and will remain waterproof through many a down pour, it will help if you can make sure it is dry when you put it away or dry it throughly once you get home.
In my experience the weather forcast is regularly wrong so you might be worrying for nothing anyway!
Happy camping.

Do it the same way you did in the garden only wearing a waterproof top! Practice in the garden again.
It might get damp inside if you are a bit slow getting the flysheet on (outer tent), but it will keep its waterproof-ness in the wet.
Try to put the tent up in the light - rain and dark is a bit tricky

So all women could take a seat at domicile and be too scared to do something? Does that remind you of something (all women could take a seat at domicile cooking and cleansing.....)? human beings could get a grip on certainty in specific situations. appropriate suggestion i could provide is to practive putting the tent up earlier you circulate away, with maximum tents you are able to have the skill to set it up in approximately 5-10 minutes with prepare. If its raining, you have no longer have been given any decision yet a water-proof jacket and towel to dry off afterwards! (Oh, yet another decision is to discover defend for a jiffy - many rain showers are approximately 10mins long - cover untill it stops raining and then placed the tent up!) %. a stable spot for the tent to boot of direction

Put the tent up, but make sure to use a rain fly.
Also, an idea migth be to take a few tarps, and set the tent up under a tree, where you can tie a few tarps up over the tent.

You put it up the same way as when it isn't raining.
Just make sure you wear a hat and waterproofs.
