Can Bichon's have inbred OCD behaviour..?

If the lines are bad, can they develope mental health problems & be a risk to children..?

Update:

The dog isn't mine, it's someone i knows... I do dog rescue & am trying to convince them to give the dog up to a quiet home as it's showing OCD behaviour & they have 2 very small children....

Update 2:

The dog would be seen by a proffesional, just the dog isn't getting the human contact it needs either....

Yes but this is very true of any breed or dog or cat. Poorly bred and poorly raised critters are often the most dangerous. My Rottweiler was Schutzhund trained and went to nursing homes. He was a very well bred and well trained from when I got him at 4 mos. He knew the difference between a bad guy threathening and a senile person who stepped on him, pulled his ears and lobbed balls at him.

In dogs, obsessive compulsive behaviour usually takes the form of tail-chasing, shadow-chasing, fly catching & similar, which are not dangerous to anyone but the dog - if it carries them to excess.

Bad temperament can be inherited just as much as bad conformation or hip dysplasia but, like HD also has environmental factors & is equally likely to be the result of bad training or bad experiences.

If the dog has a problem, it should be seen by an experienced dog behaviourist, rather than just rehomed.

Yes. Especially trendy dogs like bichons, yorkies, etc. It comes from being a puppy mill puppy or the result of bad "backyard" breeding. This is why I stress to people to either adopt or look into reputable breeders, extensively, instead of jumping the gun, buying form a pet store, or from a crappy breeder.

Yes. Many badly bred dogs have health problems they will never outgrow. Where did you get the dog?
