Pap smear results?
I had my first pap smear last month in June. My doctor told me that it appears that my cervical cells seems to be dried out. During that time I had an infection called vaginitis (BV). Can that cause my cells to dry out. I'm really worried. My doc said that the infection might caused it and not to worry about it. But I want to be really sure. She said I will have to take another pap smear in six months just to be sure. I'm 22 and will like to have children some day.

I'm 24, and I've had unusual pap results before, too. My doctor tells me that they are being extra careful with pap results of late. Mine, for instance, kept coming back with a teeny tiny bit of a pre-cancerous bacteria. She said a few years ago, it wouldn't even have put any flags up, because it's not really that important, and rarely evolves into cancer. But, on the off chance it does, no one can sue the practice for not telling the patient. So doctors are being very careful with pap results, and reporting every tiny abnormality. That's probably all yours is.
However, the 6-month check will confirm whether it's really anything to worry about. I don't think it could prevent you from having children, as there's probably something they can give you that keeps your cervical cells "moist", for lack of a better word- or simulates your body's natural mechanism for doing so. Most likely, though, it's as your doctor said and it's because of your BV.
