My wife is 31 weeks pregnant and now in the hospital dilated 4. What are the chances the doctors can stop her from giving birth. Im deployed and trying to make the decision if i should start heading home yet but i dont want to leave then they stop it.

if she has the baby now the baby will be ok. there is only a chance of something going wrong with the mental brain of the baby if she is under 26 weeks. doctors however can stop the baby coming on but in all my time practicing I really wouldnt advise it too much. but im sure she is ion safe hands. goodluck and i hope all goes well for ye

They will do everything they can to stop her labor. She isn't considered full term until week 37. If a baby is born at 31 weeks it can have problems breathing, and other complications. If she starts to dilate anymore, they will probably go ahead and let her have the baby, but if they can make her stop dilating then they will.

Once youre dialated past 3 centimeters, you are considered in actice labor. At this point, theres not much they can do to stop it.
On the plus side, at 31 weeks, there is an excellent chance of survival if the child was born now.
Good luck and god bless!

You should start trying to get home asap. Tell your wife to send a red cross message, that way your commander can not deny you leave.
If she remained on strict bedrest and stops contracting then chances are she could go a few more weeks.

If she's in the hospital I would go home. I went into the hospital for pre term labor at 28 weeks and they didnt try to stop it....they were going to just let me have it, but it stopped itself. They most likely wont stop it if shes that far along.

I would definitely try and go home. Sometimes you cannot stop delivering your baby at 4. That's active labor.
