What's the best book you have read in 2008 so far?

I've just started reading the Cross Stitch (Outlander in the US) series by Diana Gabaldon again, I read them when I was about 15 but appreciate the story and characters so much more now. I'm totally hooked again!

You know, I've just realised that I've read some real rubbish this year!!

Best so far, by a long way, was Threshold, by Caitlin Kiernan. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Threshold-Caitlin-R-Kierna...

I'm currently reading "Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom" by Cory Doctorow, and that's proving to be good too. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Down-Magic-Kingdom-Cory-Do...

The Poet by Michael Connelly. It's about a serial killer that's been killing cops for a while. Great read, full of action and suspense.

The Shining by Stephen King. A very bloody horror novel, my personal favourite. The character detail and depth in this is brilliant, as well as the storyline.

    Enjoy! :)

I examine purely 3 as i do no longer examine that frequently. Tom Bradby "The white russian" This e book is awsome, its set in 1919 rusia on the time of revolution. The tsars are coming to an end and the story follows a detective "Rusty" who's attempting to untangle the demise of two youthful fanatics brutally stabbed to demise. it particularly is an wonderful combination of romance, secret and polotics. I've only finished about 12 books this year, and I haven't been overly impressed with most of them.

The only one that stands out in my mind right now is 'The Name of the Wind' by Patrick Rothfuss. Wonderful new fantasy novel; he has some really original ideas.

I loved one story - The Hungarian Cat Curse. It was in a book Momma and the Meaning of Life by I. Yalom.

Though I re-read many books this year. Many of my favourtires, so if I have to choose including them, it would be The Idiot by Dostoevsky.

I recently finished The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini and I loved it.

It was charming and sad story that made me laugh and cry. I didn't realise it had been made into a film so I think I'll be watching that.
