What if we all agreed to boycott Exxon.Mobil....???
Since they are making record profits now - and yet we all need to buy gas no matter what the price - what if we just boycotted Exxon.Mobil - bought all our gas some place else??
Would that bring prices down?

And to keep this in category - which candidate has the better energy policy...McCain or Obama?

I also boycott Exxon Mobile, since they outsourced their customer service department to India. I was discussing my account and I heard a sound, so I asked if my conversation was being taped. The csr said yes and I told him that was not legal without my permission, but he said it didn't matter because he was in India! I hung up the phone, canceled my account, and have NEVER bought another drop of gas from Exxon. I hope more people will boycott this sleazy company.

All you'd do is drive one company out of business. Gas would still be in as high demand as ever, you'd just be buying the same amount elsewhere.
Edit: I keep getting sent the same email about boycotting Brand X in order to force the price down. it's such a specious argument, easily defeated by five seconds of critical, independent thought and five minutes of research. Same as the other one that says we should all stop buying gas for one day so the price will come down. It's a load. Everyone'll just have to buy the same amount of gas the next day.
The only way to deal with the oil issue is to stop driving cars as much, use less plastic, detergent, chemical fertilisers, synthetic fabrics...and seek alternative means of energy. Until that way of thinking is embraced, you'll pay what you're told to pay.

I already have. I buy gas exclusively from BP because they do not purchase Middle Eastern oil.
McCain has the better policy both short and long term. Obama's plan is to keep our tires inflated properly for the next 20 years until a new fuel source is perfected.

The trouble, as always, is that some clowns think they can do something that doesn't involve a sacrifice. This all evolves out of the philosophy that everything is somebody else's fault, and nothing is your fault. Guess what - this is your fault.
Instead of making next thursday "boycott day" you need to think in terms of cutting your gasoline consumption in half next Thursday and keeping it there until the year 2050.

Why do you folks think drilling now will make a difference? You want to stay with old technology? We need a leader to get us off oil, foriegn or domestic. Carter warned us we would be in this position if we did not start the ball rolling in the 70's.

We would not need to boycott anyone if we would start drilling -now-. That would bring prices down immediately and long term.
Obviously I think McCain has the better energy policy as he actually is listening to the people. Drill Now.^

This is absurd. Sooner or later, you have to buy gas. If you don't buy it from Exxon Mobile you'll buy it from another company. Exxon Mobile will simply sell their product to another company. It will do nothing to lower consumption.
If you ever look at one of those petroleum terminals, you'll see trucks from every different gas chain go there to fill up. You proposal is nothing more than silliness.

Never again will I EVER buy any gasoline from Exxon Mobil, and I encourage all who read this to do the same.

taxing is not an energy policy so it is not obama, at least mccain is open to drilling.
As far as a boycott. Americans can't even band together to vote the jacka**es out of congress, but we will successfully boycott exxon mobil, not happening

Your idea is ridiculous. You said yourself that you would buy your gas someplace else. So, the demand would not change. Therefore, ceteris paribus, the price would not change.
