Appears to be a transmission related code, although I am unsure as to the correct diagnosis. A factory trained technician could help.

Also, check fluid level and condition.

.the obd 2 code p1870 shows a transmission component slipping.........any repair shop with a decent scanner and that wants to take the time to check properly should have been able to tell. the problem MAY be a low trans fluid level, OR something electrical that is causing the clutches or band not to hold properly. (internal solenoids, etc.) a test drive by someone that is knowlegeble in REBUILDING and REPAIR shold be helpful......most trans shops just replace and are not always skilled at knowing how they operate.
