They aren't based on Disney movies. They are based on original fairy tales, just as Disney adapted them for films. For example, "Ever After" isn't based on Disney's "Cinderella" but on an old French folk tale that has various versions in many countries. "Sydney White" is based on the fairy tale that Disney used for "Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs".
So, you want new versions of old fairy/folk tales. Some of them I can think of are:
The Company of Wolves (1984)
based on Little Red Riding Hood
IMDb synopsis:
In this bagful of symbolic folklore about werewolves, Granny tells granddaughter Rosaleen strange, disturbing tales about innocent maidens falling in love with handsome, heavily eyebrowed strangers with a smoldering look in their eyes and about sudden disappearances of spouses when the moon is full and the wolves are howling in the woods.
NOTE: This is an amazing film with spectacular and sometimes gruesome images.
Freeway (1996)
based on Little Red Riding Hood
IMDb synopsis:
This is a twisted take on a fairy tale, with a teenage juvenile delinquent on the run from a social worker traveling to her grandmother's house and being hounded by a charming, but sadistic, serial killer/sexual predator.
A Cinderella Story (2004)
based on Cinderella (of course!)
IMDb synopsis:
Routinely exploited by her wicked stepmother, the downtrodden Sam Montgomery is excited about the prospect of meeting her Internet beau at the school's Halloween dance.
Grimm (2003)
based on Hansel & Gretel and other Grimm tales
IMDb synopsis:
One winter's day, Jacob and his sister, Marie, are left behind in the woods by their unemployed father. In his coat, Jacob finds a note from his mother urging them to go to their uncle in Spain. They arrive in Spain only to find that their uncle has died.
Alice (1988)
IMDb synopsis:
A memorably bizarre screen version of Lewis Carroll's novel 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland', mixing one live actor (Alice) with a large variety of stop-motion animated creatures, ranging from the complex (the White Rabbit) to the incredibly simple (the Caterpillar, consisting of a sock, a couple of glass eyes and a pair of false teeth). The original story is followed reasonably faithfully but contains bizarre images.
Some Call It Loving (1973)
based on Sleeping Beauty
IMDb synopsis:
A woman who has been asleep for eight years is purchased from a carnival by a lonely man.
The Glass Slipper (1955)
based on Cinderella
IMDb synopsis:
In a small European village, there is one unhappy person: Ella. She is despised by everyone, and mistreated by her stepmother and stepsisters. Out feeling miserable one day, Ella meets a handsome young man who is Prince Charles but tells her he is the son of the cook. After he invites her to a great ball at the Duke's castle, a strange woman, who lives in the mountains by herself, befriends Ella and dresses her up so she can attend the ball.
NOTE: Like "Ever After", there are some unusual differences.
Snow White: A Tale of Terror (1997)
based on Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs
IMDb synopsis:
Based somewhat more authentically on the Grimm Brothers' story of a young woman who is unliked by her stepmother, the film includes the talking mirror, a poisoned apple, and some ruffian gold miners who aren't dwarfs or cute.
No Such Thing (2001)
based on Beauty & the Beast
IMDb synopsis:
Disgusted with human evolution and a society driven by instant gratification and voyeuristic sensationalism, a foul-mouthed Monster kills anyone who crosses his path. When a news crew sent to investigate the Monster disappears, their ratings-obsessed boss sends a guileless young woman to follow up on the story. This young journalist forges an unlikely friendship with the Monster.
Movies have been made about the storytellers themselves. Among the titles are:
The Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm
Hans Christian Andresen
The Daydreamer (1966)
The Brothers Grimm
I hope it's OK that I went beyond the films Disney has made. I simply looked for different versions of the old stories.
