also if anyone has any suggestions of any good budget DLSR's please tell! :)

I have owned 2 ME Supers, and for the most recent one, I bought a Sigma 28-300 Superzoom (which I still have in pristine condition).

Pentax was one of the few camera manufacturers to 'keep the faith' with it's buying public, by keeping the K-mount bayonet fitting. The fact that current lenses are autofocus and designed for the new breed of digital cameras should make little difference other than the fact that your ME Super won't be able to autofocus and that you won't have the extra focal length that you would get with a digital camera (usually around 1.5 times the focal length) so a 24-70mm lens would have an approximate focal length of around 36-105 on a digital camera.

The short answer is: Yes, your dad's lenses will fit a digital Pentax, but you won't get the autofocus facility. That should be no big deal given that you are just starting out in photography. You will probably learn a whole lot more by using them manually rather than bdepending on an autofocus camera.

Keep your money in your pocket and stick with your dad's lenses for a while.

Camera wise, I would be inclined to go for another old Pentax (which are probably few and far between) but, if you go for a digital Pentax, you might try the K10d, or it's successor, the K20d.

Both of these models should be available as secondhand models as they have been updated by the K100D and K200d.

Try the secondhand market first, and good luck with your first purchase.

Yes the lenses will work in Pentax dslr's but only in Av and manual mode.

Pentax has some great DSLR's available the k200, k20 If you already have some glass, might be the best bet to get a Pentax DSLR for now until you grow in the biz.

Well the Pentax lenses used a K bayonet mount. So check the new specs to see if it is the same.

Is the camera like an ME-Super? If so I doubt the lenses are compatible.

Check out ebay for second-hand lenses. I bought some for my Canon Digital SLR. Really good value.

if the mount (usually K-mount for pentax) is the same then they will fit. doubtful that they will auto-focus correctly or anything though.
