Is there any long-distance Caribbean ferry?
I wouldn't be caught dead on a cruise ship. Is there any way to go from island to island by local boat? I read about the Caribbean Rose, but that seems to be dead in the water.

The Bahamas have ferries to travel with in the Bahamas islands. Also there is a ferry that takes you from Puerto Rico to St Thomas or St John & then from there you can get a ferry to the rest of the Virgin islands. Also from the west coast of PR, there is a ferry to the Dominican Republic.. but it takes 12 hours. Here are some links for you:

None like what you want. If you want to island hop in the Caribbean you will have to buy your own sailboat, just like I did years ago.
