Why are we so often good at giving advice, but bad at taking it?

Wow, you have certainly cut close to home with this question. Even if you look at my profile on Yahoo Answers, you will note that I have around 2800 questions answered and ZERO questions given. I guess I also can dispense advice easier than I take it.

I think the reason why so many of us are bad at taking advice, but feel that we are good to give it, is because taking advice actually means that we have to implement what are sometimes, very hard , but right instructions, to our life. For example, if someone were to say that I need to lose weight, and in order to do this I must restrict my caloric intake and run for one hour a day, the dispensing of this advice is obviously much easier to do than actually following it everyday.

So it really comes down to the fact that one is easier to do than the other.

Because usually good advice comes from people that made bad choices in life and learned from their mistakes.

Not a single person is perfect.

I believe that the culprit often is pride...Pride often gives advice and Pride often rejects advice...

The bible state in Proverbs that one who will not accept correction,is stupid....The word brutish,means stupid....(No mincing of words there,for sure)...lol

I only give advice if asked.

i give advice to others

to help em solve their

problems but

i myself cant solve mine

and give my own advice lol
