I have a major sunburn, but need to be at a wedding in a week...how to avoid peeling?
I'm usually very smart about sunscreen and everything, but yesterday I fell asleep in the sun for several hours and got a very deep sunburn (my skin is still hot to the touch). I've been alternating aloe gel and cool water all day, but it's still very red and painful.
Here's the big problem: I'm supposed to be at a wedding next Saturday, and my dress is dark-colored. I'm worried that I'll be peeling by that point, and the last thing I want to do is shed skin all over the place at a formal event.
Is there a way to either (a) prevent peeling altogether, or (b) accelerate the process so that it's not an issue in 6 days?

keep using aloe vera until the wedding. it moisturized and keeps the skin from peeling. also put a small bottle of lotion in your purse so if you do see a little peeling during the wedding you can moisturize and not worry about unsightly shedding skin.

Sun burn lotion.......
8 ounces non-medicated lotion
5 drops clove oil
5 drops peppermint oil
2-4 teaspoons powdered comfrey root
2-4 tablespoons aloe vera gel
Mix together thoroughly in a bowl. Chill, if desired.
Amounts of comfrey root or aloe vera gel may be increased, but do not increase the amounts of clove or peppermint oils, ......as they may cause skin irritation
Sunburn soothing bath(Since u only have one week)
2-4 cups *Colloidal (not regular) oatmeal
1/2 to 1 cup baking soda
1-2 cups powdered chamomile flowers
1 cup buttermilk, optional
Add all ingredients to bath water, or wrap in cheesecloth and tie to the faucet for adding aroma......
And if u dont have any one of these things...JUST APPLY ALOE VERA GEL..it will calm u r skin down

Invent a time-gadget or purchase one off of eBay(no longer those lower than $50 they dont paintings believe me) and bypass lower back in time to earlier the business revolution and give up factories from being made to give up the ozone from being worn down and talk renewable potential with the peasants. With the ozone strong a lot less uv rays will penetrate it and for this reason preventing you from getting a sunburn. Or use aloe vera.

If you're in pain solarcaine. But lotion lotion lotion! Use one without scent because it might irritate even more. The moisture should be able to keep you from peeling for a week, but the moment you think you feel itching in a burnt spot REAPPLY the lotion! Do not exfoliate or the peeling will start. cleanse gently and moisture like crazy!

SERIOUSLY THIS WORKS!!! Go out into the sun and get burnt again but really bad. This will make you peel strauight away and should also give you a nice tan. Also try a shaver to help the pealing process. In six days time you will be skin peel free.
All the best.
