I hear toenails fall off as people age, is this true?

Someone told me a relative of his has almost no toenails anymore.

No, Pablo, this is not true. They don't turn yellow either. Ask your Grandpa.

I'm over 70, and my toenails are as good as they ever were. That persons relative must have some sort of disease which caused them too fall off.

I don't think so, but nothing would surprise me anymore! But now I think about it, my mother is 86 and gets a pedicure once a month and has the most beautiful toenails and loves wearing sandals!

    Nope.

I know from first hand experience from clipping my grandparents toenails taht they do not fall off .

If anything the growth is stunted and the nails become stronger & thicker, making it very hard to clip, and harder to avoid nail clippings flying into your face -_- lol.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I DO happen to have one big toe nail that just won't grow right since it was stepped on numerous times by the horses I used to have to walk on my job. It gets better for a few years, then it gets worse & turns dark brown & falls off...but another one always starts to grow.....very strange indeed.

NO, NO, NO, NO, NO... do no longer paint over the exterior, you want to enable it breath so the recent nail can come out, do no longer paint over the exterior. enable it is, it is going to likely be extra effective and in good structure! do no longer positioned a a faux nail on it, you do not favor to apply something as strong as chemical on it, for most causes, one in each and every of them even as the nail starts to gro it is going to start up to toughen and push the fake nail faraway from the exterior which will be EXTREMELLY painful, once you position a faux nail on, you position it on suited of the nail so even as the actual nail grows it received't contact the exterior. also evaluate, you may properly be alergic to the glue, i'm, i take advantage of to chew my nails and that i used fake nails, so the glue reason inflammation and made my nails itch like heck. also if it itches you may scratch it, which will make the exterior smash and could reason an infection. you may no longer paint over it, it isn't healthy. go away it on my own, enable it is, believe me you do not recognize how a lot chemical is in something! go away your pores and skin on my own, enable the nail improve, in case you want to apply turn flops what you do is positioned a bandaid over it, no human being will ask and in the experience that they do, all you do is say you had somewhat coincidence, no longer something severe and that is it, replace the placement! strong luck honey and please do not positioned something on it ok?! Anything like this is possible, but rare. Mine keep getting thicker, one nail, the outside is trying to meet the other outside even though they are short. It gets painful as it gets thicker, I use a special cutter for trimming that nail.

Not true - though I know several elderly people who wish they would. They can't reach them anymore and there isn't always someone around to trim them.

Yes of course it's true. If you closely examine what appears to be a gravel path outside an old peoples home, you will find it's made up entirely of shed toe nails, finger nails and teeth. I would never lie to you.

10,000 years from now when they dig up your decomposed remains your toenails are one thing that will still be there. Check a museum that has mummies.
