Sorry to hear that you are in pain. I would recommend seeing a chiropractor as soon as possible. Take your x –rays with you to the chiropractor. If you had an MD look at the films they are looking for fractures, tumors and dislocations, not misalignment. If you have a fixation it will only be detectable with movement, the x-rays were taken while you were motionless. This means that they must be found with examination and orthopedic testing. Misalignment (subluxations) and fixations can cause pressure on spinal nerves resulting in pain as well as tight and tender muscles.

However be careful of decompression, herniated discs in the upper back are very rare and usually result in pain or other symptoms radiating into the arms. Do not agree to decompression therapy without an MRI showing herniated discs in the area of complaint.

After your chiropractor gets you out of pain look into the possibility of a new bed (never sleep on your stomach) and improving your ergonomics at work and at home. Also work on strengthening you back and core muscles. Any good chiropractor can help you with the exercises and ergonomics.

Ice packs will help you when you are in acute pain a lot more than heat.

Try it 2 to 3 times a day for 20 to 30 minutes moving it around a bit.

Otherwise, you have a subluxated upper back vertabra with probably a twisted rib head - they are very painful but usually get better very quickly if treated by the right Chiropractor.

Get one off of a major insurance list, even if you arent insured for it - they are the best and have the most reasonable plans.

I cured my sciatica with this natural treatment http://cure-sciatica.info/

Normally, I would not answer a question like this as my expertise is generally in medication but I had severe sciatica while I was pregnant with my 3rd child (after having had twins) and I had sciatica so bad that I was finding it difficult to walk. I tried massage therapy and physical therapy and could not take medication

I went to the chiropractor and the pain was instantly relieved. My hips and lower back were out of alignment because I had carried twins the year before. On occasion a Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) can also work but they usually only work on one joint at a time - the chiropractor will do your whole back which works faster. Anyone who does not believe in chiropractors will tell you they are quacks - don't listen.

I don't necessarily believe that chiropractors can cure things like diabetes but they can definitely relieve some types of back pain especially if a pinched nerve is involved which is usually the cause of sciatica.

Try wearing a shoulder brace. If you're sitting hunched over at the computer, or at a desk for long periods, this can cause it. Also, lay as flat as you can in bed, no piles of pillows under your head. Put a heating pad on the area, and lay on it for awhile before you go to bed.

Bad posture is the most common cause of upper back/shoulder pain.

The pain may be caused due to any of the reasons like herniated disc, spinal stenosis, and bulging disc. Consult your doctor go for the right treatment. Do not opt for pain suppression treatments or any other correction therapies, they provide only temporary relief.

If nothing has shown up on the x-rays, then there is likely no skeletal problem. This doesn't discount muscular and neurological and other soft tissue disorders.

If the pain is so bad, you really should have an MRI scan and some additional blood/urine tests to rule out other possibilites.

It could be a stomach ulcer or gastritis, the best thing to do is to go to the doctor, but i wouldn't suggest taking ibuprofen maybe paracetamol for the pain, ibuprofen has a habit of causing ulcers or gastritis like it did to me. Both of what i mentioned can come and go, drink plenty of water and not any acidy foods, something easy on your stomach. x

It sounds like you might have a joint out of alignment. Going to the chiropractor will probably help you alot. I get my husband to wrap his arms around me, like a tight hug, and squeeze me up and down my back until it pops everywhere that it can. Definitely see the chiropractor if you can. she can tell exactly where and what the problem is.
