The city of San Benito, TX is evicting a lady who owns dozens of endangered animals from a barn she rents. She is a retired performer. They are letting the fairgrounds get converted into a waste dump.

There are certainly underlying reasons behind this that the lame news story did not touch on. Perhaps the city has leased the entire property and a government insurance agency is not going to insure a landfill that also houses exotic cats. As beautiful and endangered as these cats are, they are dangerous.
By allowing them on this property, the city is assuming responsibility. In our lawsuit crazed society, no municipality in their right mind is going to accept this responsibility. They risk losing their coverage.
Yes, poor cats and poor lady, but when was the last time a tiger came to your house and picked up the garbage? You keep producing trash and take for granted that it has to go someplace. It is not a simple thing for cities to find an area to use as a land fill.
